Among the traditional Colombian crops, yams (Dioscorea) have a significant socio-economic importance in the Caribbean region, especially in Sucre, and are part of the population's diet. It is currently vulnerable to attacks by phytopathogenic fungi, especially Fusarium oxysporum, causing economic losses during production and post-harvest.
